Suggest a better descriptionWash grape leaves. If using fresh leaves, soak for 10 minutes in hot water, then rinse in cold water. Wash rice. Thoroughly mix ground beef, rice, allspice and pepper. Place one leaf at a time in front of you with vein side up. Starting at bottom of leaf, place some of the rice mixture on the leaf just enough so as to be able to comfortably roll the leaf, tucking sides in. Place some leaves in bottom of boiler to keep rolled ones from scorching. Layer rolled leaves in boiler and add lemon and salt to each layer of leaves. Spread tomato paste on top and cover with water. Simmer 45-60 minutes until rice is done. MRS BILL SCHUMANN (JO) MARVELL, AR From the book
